History

  • From roots - 1994

Avastar is a family-run business founded in 1994 by the Plesca Family, in the village of Roscani from Suceava County - a beautiful countryside area in Bucovina, spread out at the crossways of river valleys of Suceava and Siret.

We have built our business based on principles deep rooted in the local tradition and the family values.

"We like to believe that, through what we do, we are bringing forth and go by the noble tradition of life principles of our forefathers."

  • 1994

In 1994, the first meat production plant was opened, which consisted of a slaughterhouse and a meat processing unit for traditional meat products.

  • 1996

Very quickly, we had become the preferred meat supplier on the local markets, in Iasi and Suceava, and were already establishing strategies for advancing on the regional and national markets.

Year by year, we continued to expand our national coverage, adding new renowned names from the retail and food processing sectors to our company’s portfolio. Our expansion was also fuelled by the evolution factors of Romania’s food retail sector of the early 2000s, with new supermarket chains being opened.

  • 2000

In 2000, we opened our first retail shop in Pascani - while expanding the wholesale side of the business we felt that, for a better insight of the market, we needed to meet the end consumer as well.

  • 2008

As a result of higher demand in meat supply and of the need to adapt to ever changing market trends, in 2008 we built our new slaughterhouse, one of the most modern slaughterhouses in the country, equipped with cutting-edge technological lines.

Part of a larger investment plan, the modern plant permitted much greater production output and the implementation of the highest food quality and safety standards.

  • 2010

In 2010, we achieved our first EU Certifications: EN ISO 9001/2008 and EN ISO 22000/2005.

After long years of assiduous planning and preparation, we were becoming better at what we do, thus paving the way to meet our vision.

  • 2013

In 2013, we began extending our sales to the international markets, delivering our products to Hungary and Hong Kong.

Also, this year we had our first BRC Certification, in order to meet the requirements of specific international quality management systems.

  • In the recent years

We opened a new processing facility for offal and animal by-products.

We increased the storage capacity by 200 tons, by building new cold stores.

We built a new wastewater treatment plant, thus improving our production facilities and reducing our environmental impact.

In 2016, we had our first IFS Certification.

While consolidating our national supply network, we have extended our export activities to other markets like Serbia, Poland, Greece, Holland, Germany, Spain etc.
