From the Roots

Avastar is a family business established by the Pleșca family in 1994, in their hometown of Roșcani, Suceava County – a picturesque area in Bucovina, situated at the confluence of the Suceava and Siret rivers. „We have built our business by respecting the essential values of family and local tradition. We like to believe that through what we do, we follow the simple life principles of the noble tradition left by our parents.”

1994

In 1994, we opened our first production unit, which included sections for beef and pork slaughtering and a section for traditional meat preparations.

1996

In just two years, we became one of the preferred suppliers in the local markets of Suceava and Iași. As a result, we outlined expansion strategies for regional and national markets. From year to year, our expansion strategies materialized, increasing our portfolio with renowned clients, both in the retail and industrial sectors. Our ascent coincided with the modernization of the Romanian food retail sector in the early 2000s, with the emergence of large supermarket chains.

2000

The year 2000 marked the opening of our first store in Pașcani, as we deemed it necessary to directly meet the end consumer to better understand their needs.

2008

Due to increased sales volume and the demands of quality standards, in 2008, we built a new slaughterhouse, one of the most modern in the country, with state-of-the-art technological lines. The construction of the slaughterhouse was part of a larger investment project, benefiting from funding through the European SAPARD program. The new slaughterhouse allowed for increased production capacity and alignment with the highest quality and food safety standards.

2010

In 2010, we obtained the first European quality certificates: EN ISO 9001/2008 and EN ISO 22000/2005.

2013

Starting from 2013, we expanded our sales area internationally, with deliveries to Hungary and Hong Kong. Also in 2013, to meet the quality requirements of certain foreign markets, we obtained the first certification according to the BRC (British Retail Consortium) Standard.

2014

We opened a new unit for processing organs and by-products. We increased the storage capacity by 200 tons by constructing new freezing warehouses.

2016

In 2016, we obtained the first IFS certification. We further expanded our export activities, with our products now being delivered to countries such as Serbia, Poland, Greece, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, etc.

2017

We built a wastewater treatment plant, thus improving production processes and reducing environmental impact.

2020

To maintain our commitment to our customers, we are currently involved in an extensive investment project to expand our slicing, packaging, and storage capacity from 2500 m² to 5000 m². Additionally, we are in the process of constructing a unit for processing animal fats.
